This website was created to help anyone starting a new chapter in the United States better understand how life in America works.

My name is Phung Breunig (Nguyen). Before moving to the United States, I spent many years working in higher education and public finance in Vietnam. After moving to the U.S., I experienced firsthand the challenges of starting over in a new country—as an international student, a working professional and later a parent.

Over the years, I realized that many newcomers face the same questions and uncertainties: How does the education system work? How do you find a job as an international student? What should you know about health insurance, retirement plans, taxes, or government services? 

While information is available online, it is often scattered, overly technical, or difficult to understand for those who are unfamiliar with the American system. The articles on this website combine research, professional experience, and personal observations to provide practical guidance for people navigating life in the United States. While the content reflects my own perspectives and experiences, my goal is always to present information as clearly, accurately, and objectively as possible.
